We are pleased to announce that SMASH, AccelerateHer finalists in the Disruptive Tech category, has been selected to compete in the prestigious San Seb film festival Zinemaldia Startup competition. SMASH is one of 5 European Tech Startups selected as finalist because of their significant impact on the audio visual industries.
The tech startups will compete for a range of excellent prizes and growth opportunities. Previous winners have expanded globally and received substantial finance to take their business to the next stage.
SMASH is an IP marketplace for the creative industries. The platform is focusing on film and TV before expanding into games and other content creation. The company has introduced innovative and disruptive technology within the ‘createch sector,’ where spending on video streamed content is forecast to top £250bn this year. The company has tapped into this explosive growth market by providing content creators with free-to-access digital tools to create powerful pitches aimed at commissioners and other decision-makers amid increasing demand for high quality content.
SMASH received one of its earliest investments from Investing Women Angels and further investment from the group as part of their current funding raise. We’re also proud to say that SMASH has been a key business within the AccelerateHER network, accessing support and joining key trade missions. In turn, Cofounders Fiona Gillies and Christine Hartland have been a key part of the network, supporting other female founders. SMASH has also, this year, been named as 1 of 10 startups to watch at the EIE 2022.
